Cheering for the Local Team!

Today, departed the tree house at dawn, waved goodbye to the Pacific, and set forth for the other side, Steel City. First stop, Mellon Arena for an epic battle between the Penguins and the Maple Leafs. Well, maybe not epic, but it'll be fierce. I have hockey to thank for lowering the ban on poultry and showing me the business side of BBQ chicken wings and IPAs, fist shaking and shouting phrases like, "I can't believe they didn't get a penalty for that!" Plus, have you seen Sidney Crosby's lips? Enough said.

Although Second Edition will not be painting her face the mighty black and gold, I assembled a melange of textures, colors and social class for tonight's outfit: a Diane Von Furstenberg brown and creme wrap dress with powder blue cashmere hoodie over Blue Cult jeans (nicely white trashy) topping some rockin' boots that are sort of the love child between Donatella Versace and Daniel Boone. I'll be the one simultaneously clutching a Chanel handbag and a can of Bud Lite. I'm told last night's Columbia Valley Cabernet is the last one for awhile.

We'll be rolling into J-town 'round midnight, post-game, where the parents vow to stay up for the meet and greet. Good sports in the hill country. Not even New Year's Eve keeps me up past 10 p.m.

I like them already.

Had the pleasure of seeing the Devils spank the Sabres in Jersey over the holiday.
Enjoy the game, and here's to Malkin scoring a hat trick...I need the fantasy stats.
